End of the Saga

I just finished the last book in the Twilight Saga, Breaking Dawn. I just became a fan of the series earlier this summer thanks to my friend EK. You can ask J, I became completely obsessed with this series. As soon as I finished the first one I ran out and got the next two. It was a long summer waiting for the release of Breaking Dawn. Stephenie Meyer had said that she wouldn't continue the series, but I think there is more story to tell. I hope that she returns to t it one day.

I did enjoy Breaking Dawn. There were parts in it that were some of my favorites in the series and there were some parts that were completely caught me by surprise. This could have easily been two books though. And I completely understand that she thinks it would have to be two movies if they get made into movies and I think I know where they were split. The middle part I don't think I cared for as much since it changes perspective, but I understand that it was essential to the plot. I just prefer the Bella perspective.

Her writing has seemed to improved with this final book. Everyone doesn't go around pursing their lips as much as in the previous three and it was interesting to see how the characters changed. Edward was the best in Twilight in my opinion though. We'll see if that changes in Midnight Sun, Twilight from Edward's perspective. :) However I did like Jacob a little more in this last book.

Indy 4 *May contain spoilers*

Last weekend J, M and I went to see Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. J and I liked it. M did not. After thinking about it I can understand why he didn't like it. In the beginning and through most of the movie it did seem like an Indy movie. It pretty much had the same feel and of course since John Williams did the music that helped out tremendously. However the end didn't really feel the same. It was kind of a cop out in my opinion. Ever seen the Abyss? Then you know what I mean. However, the very ending I did like. Especially with the little foreshadowing with Mutt :) That will definitely be interesting if Lucas does continue the story with him like he said he wanted to do. Will it be another 20 years? Probably. Look how long it took to make this one, and his Star Wars prequels.
Anyways, Harrison Ford looked pretty good in the movie. You can definitely see his age. They even make references to it throughout the entire movie. And of course they had to through in the Lucas line of "I've got a bad feeling about this." I don't ever remember it in the other Indy movies, but it's in all of the Star Wars movies!! It's kind of expected in those.

Twilight

I've just completed the first three books in the Twilight series. I got to say I love the story, and I love the characters, however the writing left a little to be desired. I know I shouldn't complain about someone else's writing since I don't consider my self a great writer, but Ms. Meyer seemed to repeat herself by using the same words and some of the same scenes multiple times! Like it seemed like every five minutes someone was pursing their lips!
That said, I could really relate to Bella's clumsiness :) Edward is by far my favorite character, I can't wait to see what happens in the next book, due out in August! . I really didn't like the Jacob character, but he isn't really in the first book that much and then just becomes really annoying in the second book.
The story is very much like Romeo and Juliet with Vampires. Not a completely original idea, but the changes she made to the vampire mythology were interesting. This made me want to read more vampire books and possibly write my own story involving vampires. Don't worry I won't make anyone read it.
Anyways, there will be a movie out this fall of the first book in the series which is one of the reasons I wanted to read it to begin with. I hope the movie is good. I hope they were able to take the story and make it better, unlike Eragon which was a good story written poorly and made into a really bad movie!
